90/100As Tasty as Strawberries!! :3Continue on AniList__POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD__ Story/Characters/Pacing(9/10) It's a story about a young girl, Amano Ichigo, who doesn't seem to be able to do anything right. She's not the brightest, and she's not the smartest and even her younger sister seems to be doing much better than she is, but she has one thing that many other people lack and that gift is that she cares about other people's feelings a lot, the way her late grandmother taught her. One day she decides to enroll into a Pastry School and follow in her Grandma's footsteps after being reminded by a French pastry maker who studied under her grandma of how happy her Grandma's sweets used to make her feel. She has to work twice as hard as everybody else due to her not having any experience in making sweets. Her work gets judged not only by her teachers but also by her peers, so she often struggles to pull through, sometimes even thinking about quitting, but the friends she makes along the way remind her of her goal and her dream, here we also learn that she does have incredible potential as a pastry maker and that this was what she was meant to be all along when people start to notice her gift to tell different ingredients apart just by tasting them and despite every hardship she has to go through she keeps being optimistic believing in her dream of becoming an amazing Pastry Maker who will be able to make people happy with her amazing sweets. She may lack all the skills but makes up for them by studying and practicing very hard. There's Sweet Princes who got their title by being amazing at everything but despite them seeming perfect in every way, they also have their own struggles, and we learn that their skill was not the product of talent but rather a really hard work. There are also sweet spirits who are basically just fairies that search for pastry makers who show potential and are willing to work hard to become great, after they find their partners they become best of friends and help each others ^^ Sweet spirits are just the cutest <3All the main characters and most of the side characters are really fun to watch, the story also goes beyond the school setting, and we often see characters interact with their families and many strangers which helps us learn more about their personal lives and shows us what kind of people they are :). The only one I really didn't like was Koshiro Miya, her obsession with one of the Sweet Princes kind of ruined a good few episodes for me as she's loud, obnoxious and basically gets everything she wants just because she's rich :V, and she also never learns any lessons and doesn't show much if any progress as a character except when she really decides to work her butt off just to flex at her crush and Ichigo who she thinks is in love with him just because they are friends but even then she tries to cut corners most of the time, there's also these two annoying dudes who are basically her servants and do anything she wants xDD and they're really cringe. With that being said the hypest moments of the shows are when you see Ichigo and her friends succeed in something, for the most of the show there's a competition going on to see who's going to go to study at school in Paris, and they have to figure out new and creative ways to win their matches, sometimes even competing with the students who are year or two older than them. The only weak part of the story would be near the end because of one really dumb plot twist they tried to do with one character who is very important to Ichigo's development, so I won't be going into any details. Let's just say that the writers pulled a really dumb stunt on one of the most skilled and talented students near the end of the main tournament competition. Not only did that stunt make a great negative impact on that student, it also made one of the most important characters in the entire story seem like theyr'e a total creep and a jerk, despite it all being an act on their side. It only managed to make me dislike his character in the end and I was really looking forward to seeing him interact and support all the kids who looked up to him :/. The pace of the show was great :D as most of the storylines are told throughout multiple episodes, so it's not completely episodic as many other similar shows, surprisingly, and it really fits the show, I never got bored watching it!! Art/Animation(5/10) As much as I like the story and the characters, this show doesn't look all that good. The art style they chose for the show thrives on being super detailed and, since there weren't any crazy animation sequences to be animated in a pastry-making show, I was expecting the art style to be at least a bit more detailed and consistent. The animation was also super rough and the character movement was completely lacking. However, I am not entirely sure how tight of a budget the staff had to work with. I'm guessing that they were extremely limited with the resources :/ still with what little budget they had, they made the show look as best as it could and, it shows, it may look mediocre, but there were never any sudden dips in quality Music/Sound(9/10) Opening and the endings were AMAZING, I never skipped them and I even added those songs to my Music playlist on youtube!! ^3^ OST's were also great, always adding feelings to the scenes! Personal Enjoyment & Conclusion (9/10) All in all It's a great show that is definitely worth your time if you're into cute and bubbly characters who never give up on their dreams and want to make world a better place <3. It's only 50 episodes long and I personally never got bored so I can wholeheartedly recommend it!! ^^ The show will forever hold a place in my heart and I plan on re-visiting it one day when I have the resources to make my own sweets, it may have not been the best looking show I have ever seen but it was still a magical experience <3 :D I hope that you can enjoy it as well!
